The Auditorium Sessions

by Noah Derksen

/
1.
Write it down Before your memory fails you Surprised to find That your pen’s been used to impale you Death by imagination is not hard In this cruel, cruel world The mind is free To live separately Oh, how far we’ll go How far we’ll go How far we’ll go Try to go home But soon your feet grow weary When it’s love you hold You know you won’t see clearly My arms are open My arms are open wide I’m looking to embrace All that’s passed me by Oh, how far we’ll go How far we’ll go How far we’ll go When the second-hand moves slowly And you wonder why it is you’re lonely When the ink spills on your pages When you feel like you’ve been stuck for ages When you feel like you’ve been stuck for ages It’s time to come down It’s time to come down It’s time to come down It’s time to come down
2.
In between your outstretched arms I find refuge A shelter that is safe from harm Hold on tight I’ll do no wrong In time you’ll know In the midst of heavy breathing Your eyes fail you A darkness creeps within your being You’re far too young to feel this feeling Don’t hide away You’re taken far from home Your innocence is gone Oh darling, you will be found Before the sun goes down Oh darling, no matter where you roam You’ll be brought home I think I’m going crazy, I think I’ve lost my mind Still I know Darling, you will be found You will be found It may feel like you are dying You may wish it to be true Darling no matter where you roam I will come find you I will come find you Oh darling, you will be found Before the sun goes down Oh darling, no matter where you roam You’ll be brought home I think I’m going crazy, I think I’ve lost my mind Still I know Darling, you will be found You will be found Oh darling, you will be found, you will be found
3.
I held you tight, as if it would not last The night, with no light; it wouldn’t seem to pass My words, empty like my promises I cursed you I was trying to let you know, that I could never let you go I just tried to hold you close, to feel your heart beat in my throat Now it seems I’ve lost control, but from what I do not know You go down, down, down, down, down To the deep blue I hoped that you would float, up to the surface But you sunk like a stone, down through the ocean Just like a knife, cutting through my soul I lost my grip, and with it my control I was trying to let you know, that I could never let you go I just tried to hold you close, to feel your heart beat in my throat Now it seems I’ve lost control, but from what I do not know You go down, down, down, down, down You go down, down, down, down, down Go grab yourself a cigarette And smoke it until that ash burns red It comes back to you – we’ve gone full circle And yes it’s true, I still yearn for you And my hands are stained from the blood of this slaughter And you are gone in the depths of the water I was trying to let you know, that I could never let you go I just tried to hold you close, to feel your heart beat in my throat Now it seems I’ve lost control, but from what I do not know You go down, down, down, down, down To the deep blue To the deep blue
